Dr. Tarub Mabud, MD, MSc, is a diagnostic and interventional radiologist. He is an assistant professor of radiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and an attending radiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.Dr. Mabud's clinical and research interests focus on minimally invasive, image-guided therapies for cancer, musculoskeletal disease, venous disorders, hepatobiliary and portal venous disease, and men's and women's health issues such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and uterine fibroids.Dr. Mabud's research leverages large-scale bioinformatics, public health, and epidemiological techniques to answer fundamental questions in medicine: how can we make our treatments safer, better, and more cost-effective. He has published extensively on a range of cutting-edge therapies, including several of the first clinical publications on histotripsy—a novel, noninvasive cancer treatment which uses sound waves to destroy tumors inside the body. He has also given national and international lectures on numerous topics including genicular artery embolization (GAE) for knee arthritis. His research has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Radiological Society of North America Roentgen Research Award, the Society of Interventional Radiology Resident/Fellow Research Award, the Society of Interventional Radiology Featured Abstract Award, and the Society of Abdominal Radiology Top Technical Innovation Award.Dr. Mabud completed his integrated interventional and diagnostic radiology residency at NYU Langone Health, and his internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He received his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, an MSc in epidemiology from Imperial College London, and dual undergraduate degrees in biology and economics from the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School.In addition to his clinical and research practices, Dr. Mabud is a passionate medical educator, having mentored dozens of medical students and residents who will themselves go on to become leaders in healthcare.
