Sophie Sohval, M.D.

Dr. Sophie Sohval is an academic hospitalist at Weill Cornell Medicine with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. She earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and went on to complete her internal medicine residency and chief residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her clinical interests include inpatient general medicine, value-based care, and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS).

Dr. Sohval is particularly passionate about curriculum development and hands-on teaching in POCUS, aiming to equip trainees with essential clinical tools to perform bedside diagnostics and improve patient outcomes. She is engaged in research projects exploring the implementation and educational impact of POCUS in hospital settings. She is committed to mentoring the next generation of physicians and contributes to medical education among both medical students and residents.

Through her work, Dr. Sohval strives to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation in academic medicine—advocating for a model of care that is both grounded in humanism and informed by the latest advances in clinical medicine.
