Dr. Sara Welinsky is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Digestive Diseases at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Her clinical practice includes the full spectrum of digestive disorders with a special focus on pancreatic and biliary conditions. Her advanced proficiency in interventional endoscopy encompasses a variety of cutting-edge procedures, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), luminal stent placement, balloon enteroscopy, radiofrequency ablation, and endoscopic suturing. Dr. Welinsky specializes in high-risk pancreatic populations and innovative therapeutic approaches to obesity management. A Baltimore native, Dr. Welinsky earned her undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. She completed her medical school training at Tel Aviv University and returned to New York City for her Internal Medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her gastroenterology fellowship was completed at Montefiore Medical Center before pursuing an additional year of specialized training in the field of minimally-invasive therapeutic endoscopy at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Welinsky contributed her skills at a private community practice before returning to Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Welinsky is an engaged member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and Women in Endoscopy (WIE). Her scholarly contributions include academic lectures, clinical research, review articles, and book chapters centered on topics in the field of interventional endoscopy and high-risk pancreatic populations.
