Dr. Rateb Fouad is a Hospitalist and Instructor in Medicine, currently enrolled in specialized training in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. - He earned his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Bahrain. Following graduation, Dr. Fouad joined the Canadian Red Cross, where he served as a Public Health Lead in the province of Ontario during the COVID-19 pandemic. He led response efforts to contain and mitigate outbreaks across vulnerable and Indigenous communities. His team's work received national recognition, garnering additional support and resources to expand their reach and impact.
Dr. Fouad later completed his internal medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY. With a passion for education, he actively mentored medical students and junior residents, delivered lectures, assessed clinical skills, and helped lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing both curricular and self-directed learning. Committed to physician well-being, he also served as a core member of the Resident Wellness Committee. In recognition of his contributions, he was honored with the Resident of the Year award. Currently pursuing fellowship training in POCUS, Dr. Fouad is focused on advancing his ultrasound and procedural proficiency. Beyond the confines of the hospital, he plans to integrate these skills into future humanitarian efforts—a longstanding calling that predates his medical journey.
