Dr. Portia Sirinek is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist who provides personalized, comprehensive care for patients with glaucoma and cataracts. She is dedicated to helping patients prevent vision loss and optimize the quality and functionality of their vision.
Originally from Ridgewood, New Jersey, she earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Yale University before completing her medical degree at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her ophthalmology residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. She then pursued advanced fellowship training in glaucoma at Mass Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School. After training, she spent four years in full-time clinical practice in Boston, honing her clinical and surgical expertise.
Dr. Sirinek is an experienced cataract surgeon who offers a full range of intraocular lens options — including monofocal, toric, extended depth of focus, and multifocal lenses — tailored to each patient's visual goals and ocular health.
For patients with glaucoma, she provides medical management and performs a wide variety of procedures, including selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI), minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), trabeculectomy, tube shunt implantation, and cyclophotocoagulation. She takes a thoughtful, individualized approach to treatment, optimizing medical therapy to control eye pressure while minimizing side effects. This allows her to manage all stages of the disease with a long-term focus on preserving vision and comfort.
She takes the time to understand each patient's unique situation and works collaboratively to create care plans that protect and improve vision while optimizing overall quality of life.
In addition to her medical practice, Dr. Sirinek is an accomplished French horn player and continues to perform with local community orchestras.
