John van Bockxmeer, MD

John van Bockxmeer is a board-certified family physician who moved to New York from Western Australia. Dr van Bockxmeer aims to deliver trauma-informed, compassionate and evidence-based care for patients of any age or gender identity. John wishes to partner with patients and make shared plans. He has dual training in Emergency Medicine and an interest in chronic disease and healthy lifestyle choices. He is committed to improving the lives of others and recently worked as a senior doctor in the opioid crisis response in British Columbia, Canada.

He has a passion for health equity with clinical experience across six continents. He has a master's in public health and Tropical Medicine and enjoys research and volunteering with medical students in Northern Manhattan.
