Dr. Javier Mejía Gabaldón is an Assistant in Clinical Surgery practicing at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Society from Cornell University. Dr. Mejía Gabaldón is active in the American Association for Thoracic Surgery and has presented his research at national and international conferences. His professional interests focus on thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, including complex valve repair, the Ross procedure, and aortic surgery. He has an interest in surgical innovation and outcomes research in cardiothoracic procedures. In addition, he serves as a surgical educator and mentor for medical students and residents through Columbia's Department of Surgery and is a member of academic working groups advancing cardiothoracic surgical techniques. He was recently honored with selection to present at the AATS Annual Meeting for his contributions to advancing knowledge in aortic and valve surgery.
