iconAbout Ilana Pomerantz, Psy.D.

Dr. Pomerantz received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Brandeis University and completed her APA-accredited doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a Geropsychology concentration at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology – Yeshiva University.

Before joining the faculty, she completed her APA-accredited internship at Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine at NYC Health and Hospital's Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she received advanced training in the treatment of trauma and serious mental illness, emergency psychiatric assessment and diagnosis, and behavioral health integration. Further, while on internship, she conducted psychological and neuropsychological evaluations and assisted with conducting assessments through the Libertas Center for Human Rights. In response to COVID-19, Dr. Pomerantz was involved in team-based interventions throughout Elmhurst Hospital Center where she provided care to medical attendings and residents, COVID-19 patients, and their families. Following this, she completed a combined clinical and research postdoctoral fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center. There, Dr. Pomerantz received specialized training in attachment science and mentalizing-focused group parenting interventions that aim to dismantle the intergenerational transmission of maltreatment and attachment trauma in marginalized and diverse communities.

Dr. Pomerantz is deeply committed to individually tailored evidence-based treatment. In her practice she utilizes and integrates several treatment regimens, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), third-wave therapies (ACT and DBT-informed) emotionally focused therapy (EFT), and Mentalization-based treatment (MBT).
