G. Joel DeCastro, MD, MPH, an Assistant Professor of Urology at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. DeCastro graduated with cum laude honors in Biology from Harvard University in 1997. He then went on to complete his medical school training, a Masters in Public Health, and his Urology residency at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. After residency, he completed a two-year fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the University of Chicago, focused on laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He serves on the review panel of numerous publications, including the Journal of Urology and the Journal of Endourology. He has authored multiple original research articles, book chapters, and editorials on urologic oncology. His present research is primarily on outcomes following treatment for bladder cancer.

Dr. DeCastro is an established expert in both robotic and laparoscopic techniques for treatment of urologic tumors, specifically for bladder, kidney, prostate, and testicular cancer. He sees patients both at the Allen Hospital and at the Herbert Irving Pavillion on the main hospital campus, and participates in most insurance plans.
