Francis Girvin, MD, PhD is a radiologist specializing in Cardiothoracic Imaging. He is Associate Professor of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Radiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-WeillCornell Campus.
Dr. Girvin completed undergraduate medical school training at the University of Cambridge and University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom, followed by separate residencies and dual board certification in internalmedicine (Glasgow) and radiology (Edinburgh).
Following fellowship training in thoracic radiology at NYU Langone Healthfrom 2005-2006, became board certified with the American Board of Radiology and served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology until 2020.
Majority of his research interests are in pulmonary imaging. Most recent research work involved a focused on developing algorithmic approaches to image interpretation across a range of topics, providing practical guidance to radiologists and clinicians. Other areas of interest include pulmonary thromboembolic disease, and lung disease in 9-11 World Trade Center exposedfirst responders.
Dr. Girvin joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine in July 2020 where he divides his clinical time between the New York Presbyterian Cornell and Lower Manhattan Hospitals (LMH) and Weill Cornell Imaging at NewYork-Presbyterian at 53 Beekman Street, and serves as the Director of Thoracic Imaging at Lower Manhattan Hospital.
