iconAbout Darshana M. Dadhania, M.D., MS

Darshana Dadhania, M.D., M.S., D(ABHI) is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College and an Associate Attending Physician at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She also holds several administrative positions to include: Medical Director of Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program; Program Director of Transplant Nephrology Fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Dr. Dadhania received her MD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ and completed her internal medicine residency, nephrology fellowship, and transplant medicine fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Following her transplant medicine fellowship, Dr. Dadhania received additional training in histocompatibility testing and received her New York state laboratory license for histocompatibility testing and her Diplomate of American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. She is currently the Director of Genomics Division and Associate Director of the Immunogenetics and Transplantation Center.

Dr. Dadhania is an active clinician, investigator, and mentor. Her academic career has focused on development of diagnostic and prognostic noninvasive biomarkers for long-term success of kidney allografts and management of highly sensitized kidney transplant patients and infectious complications post-transplant. She has received advanced training in research methodology and graduated from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences with a Master's degree in clinical and translational investigation. She has served as the site Principal Investigator for NIH supported Clinical Trials in Organ Transplantation (CTOT)-03 and CTOT-04 and is currently a multiple Principal Investigator for North East Consortium for Transplant Outcomes in APOL1 Kidney Recipients and Metagenomic Profiling of Urinary cell-free DNA to Monitor Urinary Tract Infection after Kidney Transplantation.

She has become a nationally recognized leader in the field of transplantation through her role as the Chair of Kidney Pancreas Community of Practice of the American Society of Transplantation and has co-Chaired several consensus conferences: (1) Frailty in solid organ transplant recipients, (2) Cardiovascular disease in solid organ transplant recipients, and (3) Heart-Kidney transplantation. She also serves on the international editorial board of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation journal and Transplantation journal.
