Dr. Benjamin B. Choi is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Urology at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and an Attending Urologist at NewYork- Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Urology since 2002.Dr. Choi received his M.D. with Distinction in Research from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, and his B.A. from Tufts University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Choi completed his Internship and Residency in Surgery at NewYork- Presbyterian -Weill Cornell Medical Center and at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He completed his Residency in Urology at the James Buchanan Brady Foundation of New York Presbysterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical College.Dr. Benjamin B. Choi is widely recognized as one of the world's leading GreenLight Laser surgery experts, having helped to develop this new, safe and effective surgical technique for the treatment of prostatic obstruction and trained hundreds of urologists worldwide on the technique. He performed the first ambulatory, outpatient Greenlight laser prostatectomy in New York and New Jersey in 2003.He is a frequent commentator on television and in newspapers and magazines. Dr. Choi has been extensively published in leading medical journals on therapeutic research such as gene therapy, male and female voiding dysfunction, and Greenlight Laser surgery. He is one of the founding members for the International GreenLight Laser User Physician Panel (IGLU), a group of nine physicians from around the world chosen to develop a universal training recommendation and surgical technique to improve clinical outcomes, and to study surgical outcomes for the new GreenLight Laser surgery.He is a board member of Asian Pacific Prostate Society and the past president of Association of Korean American Medical Graduates. He is also a member of the American Urological Association, Endourology Society, Engineering and Urology Society.
