Anita LaSala, MD is the clinical director of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) practice and has extensive expertise in caring for high risk pregnancies. She is particularly interested in medical diseases that affect pregnancy, focusing on infectious diseases and maternal cardiac conditions and psychiatric illnesses. She supervises Columbia University Irving Medical Center's perinatal clinic for high risk pregnancies complicated by medical diseases.

Dr. LaSala is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She has recently published research on acquired heart disease in pregnancy. She is currently advisor on a research project to identify and quantify risk factors for preterm birth.
