iconAbout Adam D Blumenberg, MD

Dr. Adam Blumenberg is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center originally from New York City. He has a passion for humanities as well as science. He received a BA and MA in history from New York University, then an MD from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. He did his Emergency Medicine residency at Kings County and Downstate Hospitals in Brooklyn, and his Medical Toxicology Fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Blumenberg is currently teaching faculty at Columbia University Medical Center in the Department of Emergency Medicine, and a lecturer at the Poison Center of Oregon, Alaska, and Guam. At Columbia, his teaching focus is medical simulation and toxicology. He hosts the AACT "Toxic History!" webinar, and is the developer for the medical education software platforms "ToxRunner" and "Med Sim Studio."Dr. Blumenberg's clinical interests include resuscitation of critically ill poisoned patients, trauma resuscitation, diagnosis, and evidence-based medicine. His research interests include new psychoactive substances, educational methods, and toxicology. His educational interests include medical simulation, creation of medical educational media (software, video, podcast, blog), and clinical teaching. His personal interests include cooking, filmmaking & photography, science fiction, urban hiking, flea markets & thrift stores, and travel.
